On August 30, 2021, Kisumu, Kenya, was abuzz with the news of the Kenya International Freight and Warehousing Association (KIFWA) setting up shop in the city.
George Ochola, a member of the Association's Board, emphasized the strategic importance of the move, citing the city's growth and the need to tap into new opportunities for locals.
"Kisumu now offers better space for our new office to grow its wings and create employment opportunities for the people," Ochola said.
The Association's National Secretary, Fredrick Aloo, revealed that talks are underway with the National and County Governments to establish a cargo facility at the Airport and Port.
Aloo also highlighted the potential of the Western region, part of the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB), to serve the cargo facilities with products.
He encouraged people within the Bloc to take advantage of the Port and Airport to engage in agribusiness.
