On August 29, 2021, the body of Bernard Mwendwa Musyoka, a 30-year-old matatu tout, was found lying dead in a rented room at a city slum. The incident occurred at the Dreamland Guest House in Mukuru-Reli slum, Landi Mawe Ward, Starehe Sub-county.
According to Makadara police boss Timon Odingo, Musyoka had booked a room at the guest house and was found dead the next day. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Musyoka was a tout with the Indimanje Matatu Sacco, plying the Hillock /Muthurwa route. His family suspects foul play and wants the police to help unravel what happened.
His sister, Beatrice Mwikali Musyoka, said, "My brother's body had wounds in both ribs and chest, with blood oozing from his mouth. We want the police to investigate this case."
The caretaker at Dreamland Guest House, Joel Mustapha, said Musyoka was a regular client and had arrived at the guest house at 9 pm, complaining of being unwell. He had asked for drinking water and a tablet, and a jacket.
Mustapha said Musyoka shared the room with another client, Mwala, an avocado seller from neighboring Kayaba slum. Mwala had left the room in the morning, without checking on Musyoka's condition.
