Tottenham Hotspur's perfect start to the Premier League season continued on August 29, 2021, with a 1-0 win over Watford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The win lifted them to the top of the table with a perfect nine points after three games.

Son Heung-min scored the winning goal with a swerving free kick into the box from the left-hand side, which deceived Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann and found the bottom-right corner three minutes before the break.

The South Korean's 72nd goal on his 200th Premier League appearance for the club was a significant milestone, and it came at a crucial time for the team. Tottenham head into the international break having won all three 1-0, while Watford are 12th with three points.

Despite the turbulence around striker Harry Kane, Tottenham fans were delighted at how well their team has performed. Kane made his first start of the season for the club and could have found himself among the goals but fluffed a great chance when he failed to connect with a cross from Lucas Moura.

For all the talk of Spurs' attack, it is their miserly defence that has been key to their good start to the season. They restricted newly-promoted Watford to two efforts on target over the 90 minutes.

Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was delighted with his side but said that Son still had room for improvement. "Sonny is fantastic but I still think he has a long way to go. He will improve his numbers alongside the team," he told broadcaster BEIN Sports.
