On August 29, 2021, a devastating road accident occurred along the Kericho-Nakuru Highway, claiming the lives of at least five people.
The accident happened near Jabat area in Londiani, Kericho County, after a tyre burst caused the vehicle to roll several times.
Kericho County Police Commander Silas Gichunge confirmed that the five died on the spot, while several others were reported injured.
Those injured were rushed to the Londiani Sub-County Hospital for further treatment, according to Londiani OCPD.
One survivor recalled the terrifying incident: "We were on the way to Kisumu for a road trip. On reaching the accident scene, I heard the sound of a tyre burst. The next thing I knew the vehicle was flipping and rolling."
