On August 29, 2021, a devastating road accident occurred on the Total-Kericho Road in Londiani, Kenya, claiming the lives of five people and leaving seven others injured.

The accident happened when a 14-seater matatu, hired to ferry passengers from Nakuru to Kisumu, burst its tyres near Jubat.

According to Londiani OCPD Joseph Mutungi, the injured occupants were admitted to Londiani Subcounty Hospital for treatment.

One of the survivors, Michael Bright, who sustained fractures in the accident, recounted the terrifying experience.

"We were on the way to Kisumu for a road trip. On reaching the accident scene, I heard the sound of a tyre burst. The next thing I knew the vehicle was flipping and rolling," Bright said.

Despite his ordeal, Bright expressed concern for his brother's whereabouts, stating, "At this moment, I have not seen him. I am not aware of his whereabouts."
