On June 21, 2021, two men were shot dead by National Police Reservists in Mandera's Elwak area. The incident sparked a thorough investigation by DCI detectives.

After a scrupulous investigation, three National Police Reservists, Ali Abdi Ali, Mohamed Ibrahim Issack, and Ahmed Mohamed Abdilatif, were arrested and are pending arraignment for relevant charges.

The suspects were identified by the survivors of the shooting and were arrested by Elwak-based DCI detectives. They are accused of the cold-blooded murder of Kulow Adfan Hassan and Ahmed Abdi Garad.

The incident occurred on a fateful evening when the trio shot at a Toyota Succeed ferrying passengers through Elwak Dololo Road en route to Wajir, leaving two occupants dead.

The driver then drove to Elwak Police Station and reported the incident, leading to the search for the perpetrators and subsequent investigations.
