On August 28, 2021, the family of Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura was once again in pain as they laid to rest a senior member, their grandmother, Grace Gichuki.

Locals in Kianjakoma came out in large numbers to bid farewell to the 94-year-old, who had been a victim of depression after learning of her grandsons' deaths.

According to the family, Grace stopped talking to everyone after the incident and was taken to Runyenjes Hospital, where she died.

Her grandson's father, John Ndwiga, revealed that she was a strong woman, but after the deaths, she would come to the homestead and never speak to anyone.

"She was the only surviving grandmother and was very close to the boys," Ndwiga said.

The brothers, Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura, were allegedly killed by officers from the Manyatta police station for flouting the curfew on August 1.

They were arrested alongside other residents, but what happened to them between Kianjokoma town and the Manyatta police post remains a mystery to many.
