As of November 1, 2021, creators who use YouTube Studio will be required to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to access their accounts.
YouTube Studio is a powerful tool that allows creators to manage their videos, view revenue data, and analyze their performance. However, with great power comes great responsibility, and Google is taking steps to ensure that creators' accounts are secure.
Two-factor authentication is a simple yet effective way to add an extra layer of security to your Google account. When enabled, 2FA requires you to enter a verification code sent to your phone or generated by an authenticator app, in addition to your password.
Setting Up 2FA on YouTube ¶
Setting up 2FA on YouTube is easy and straightforward. You can use a smartphone prompt, a physical security key, or an authenticator app like Google Authenticator. You can also use a list of backup codes as a last resort.
Once you've set up 2FA, you'll need to enter a verification code every time you log in to your YouTube account. This may seem like an extra hassle, but it's a small price to pay for the added security it provides.
Google recommends using a smartphone prompt as the primary method for 2FA, as it's the most convenient and secure option. However, you can choose any of the available methods that suit your needs.
