On August 28, 2021, Netflix began testing its mobile gaming service in Poland, allowing subscribers to play two 'Stranger Things' titles, 'Stranger Things 1984' and 'Stranger Things 3', as part of their membership.

The company aims to create a broader entertainment universe that ties in with its popular shows, and the mobile gaming service is a step in that direction. 'Starting today, members in Poland can try Netflix mobile gaming on Android with two games — 'Stranger Things 1984' and 'Stranger Things 3' — all as part of their membership,' a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement.

Although the games are offered within the Netflix mobile app, subscribers will still need to download them from the Google Play Store. Once downloaded, users can launch the game from within the Netflix app or directly from their device.

Existing users who already downloaded the game from Google Play in the past will not be impacted and can continue to play the game as usual or re-download it from their account library. However, new players will need to get the game from the Netflix app.

Poland was chosen for the trial due to its active mobile gaming audience, and Netflix plans to roll out the service to other countries in the coming months.

With the rise of streaming platforms like Disney+, Netflix is facing increasing competition in the market. Offering games as part of the subscription may help attract users back to the platform, but it remains to be seen whether this strategy will be successful.
