On August 21, 2021, Silas Achevi was caught stealing underground electricity cables along the Nairobi Expressway construction site near Nyayo Stadium.

He was found to have dug up an underground 66KVA cable belonging to Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).

Private security guards arrested Achevi and handed him over to officers at Nyayo police post.

His accomplices escaped after fleeing the scene.

According to Achevi, he was hired by a man known as "Ras" to dig up the copper cables.

He pleaded guilty to vandalizing energy equipment worth Sh30,000 before senior resident magistrate Charles Mwaniki of Kibera law courts.

As a result, Achevi will remain in police custody until August 30, 2021, when he will be sentenced after his social inquiry report is filed.
