On August 26, a 39-year-old woman, Salma Yusuf, was discovered dead in a Dreamline Express bus that had traveled from Eldoret in Uasin Gishu County to Mombasa.
According to a passenger who spoke to The Standard in confidence, Yusuf had complained of a severe headache throughout the journey and had expressed a need for medical attention.
However, other passengers thought she was well enough to wait until they reached Mombasa to seek help.
Yusuf's relative, Neema Rajab, confirmed that the woman's body was taken to the Coast Provincial General Hospital morgue and that her burial would take place on August 27 at the Kikowani Muslim cemetery in Mombasa, following Islamic customs.
