Published on August 27, 2021, DJ Pinye, a legendary disc jockey, has made a comeback to the entertainment scene after a 5-year retirement. Born Peter Chuani, Pinye is credited with introducing Kenyan new generation showbiz music on TV in the 1990s.
After announcing his retirement on his 45th birthday in 2016, Pinye has been back in action, teaming up with fellow DJs Adrian and Nijo for a limited invites gig at Club Clique on Ngong' road in July. This Saturday, he will be back at the venue for another showdown.
When asked about his decision to return, Pinye stated that this was a special gig close to his heart, terming it a 'special contract' affair.
"This is the only gig I am spinning. This is special to me. Adrian, Nijo and I are quite a pair. Am excited," Pinye said.
His fellow DJ, Nijo, also expressed his excitement about working with Pinye, stating, "It is always good working with somebody like Pinye who understands what music is always about. This is the kind of experience that money can't buy."
The Saturday event is a 'reservations only' event due to Covid-19 restrictions, featuring the media and other guests booked in advance.
