On Friday, a warder attached to Kangeta GK Prison in Meru County was arrested at a house in Kisii Estate, Thika, Kiambu County, over claims he was planning to kill his girlfriend.

The suspect, who has since been transferred to Igembe, allegedly confided in his colleagues that he planned to kill the woman, a student at Mt Kenya University, for defrauding him Sh900,000.

A detective, who wished to remain anonymous, said the suspect's colleagues alerted the police as soon as he shared his plan, and also informed the woman to take caution.

According to one of the suspect's colleagues, "It was reported that the officer was seen with a gun in a sack at Kangeta Police Station. We quickly alerted detectives who swung into action to save the woman's life."

The suspect recorded a statement at Thika Police Station.
