On August 25, 2021, Evans Juma Wanjala, a self-confessed pedophile, was arraigned at the Kapenguria High Court, facing three counts of murder.

Wanjala was accused of murdering three minors: Linda Cherono, 13, Mary Elusa, 14, and Stacy Achieng, 10.

The first count alleged that Wanjala murdered Stacy Achieng Nabiso on December 31, 2019, in Soweto estate, Moi's Bridge, Soy Sub County.

On the second count, Wanjala was accused of murdering Mary Elusa between December 15 and 16, 2020, in Tuiyabei village.

He was also charged with committing murder on Linda Cherono within Moi's bridge area between June 11 and June 15, 2021.

Wanjala denied all the charges before Judge Justus Bwonwonga.

Prosecutor Jalson Makori opposed Wanjala's release on bail, citing concerns that he might interfere with witnesses.

Justice Bwongonga ordered Wanjala to be remanded at the Eldoret GK prison and directed the case to be mentioned on September 8 before the Eldoret High Court.
