Published on August 27, 2021, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games kicked off with Kenya's men's 5000m-T11 athletics event at the Olympic Stadium.
Team Captain Rodgers Kiprop put up a valiant effort, finishing fourth in a personal best time of 15 minutes, 27.06 seconds. Despite his impressive performance, Kiprop attributed his fatigue to the challenging humidity.
Kenyan athlete Wilson Bii, a bronze medalist in Rio four years ago, unfortunately finished last in the event. The gold medal was won by Brazilian athlete Jacques Yeltsin, while Karasawa Kenya of Japan secured silver, and Wada Shinya of Japan took bronze.
