On August 26, 2021, the funeral of Lt. Col. (Rtd) David Njoroge Mwaura was held at his home in Githunguri, Kiambu county, amidst a surprising controversy.
Two women, Alice Nyambura and Eunice Wanjiku, had separately placed death and funeral announcements in the Daily Nation, each claiming to be the late businessman's first wife.
However, their assertions were at odds, with Nyambura stating that she was the legitimate wife and Wanjiku a divorcee, while Wanjiku countered that she was the first wife and Nyambura the second spouse.
Despite the differing claims, both obituaries shared the same information, except for the disputed first wife status.
As the two women and their five children mourned the loss of their loved one, the question of who was the first wife of Lt. Col. Mwaura remained unanswered.
