Prison Warder Arrested for Plotting to Kill Girlfriend Over Ksh 900,000 ¶
On August 25, 2021, detectives from the DCI arrested Edwin Omuse, a prison warder who had disappeared from duty armed with a G3 rifle, on a mission to kill his girlfriend, Sandra Njoki.
Omuse, who was assigned sentry duties at Kangeta GK Prison in Meru, had allegedly stormed out of the prison carrying the rifle in a sack, with a magazine loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition.
According to the DCI, Omuse had visited Njoki's parent's home and made a phone call to her, urging her to meet him. He later assembled the firearm and made another call to Njoki, inquiring about her whereabouts.
Luckily, the DCI intercepted the call and managed to save Njoki before she met with Omuse.
Njoki, a fourth-year student at Mt Kenya University in Thika, is pursuing a course in environmental health.
The incident comes just days after another police officer killed his girlfriend following an argument.
