On Tuesday, 39 junior golfers were awarded for their exceptional skills at the two-day NCBA Golf Series junior invitational tournament, which concluded at the par 72 Karen Country Club course.
Organized by NCBA Group and the United States Kids Golf Association, the event saw over 85 junior golfers participate across 13 player categories.
Among the winners were Ashley Gachora, who emerged top in the seven years-and-under category for girls with 88 points, and Kanana Muthoni, who claimed the top spot in the eight-to-nine year category with 74 points.
Other notable winners included Aloe Cherono, who won the 10-to-eleven years category with 176 points, and Agamjot Kaur, who claimed the top spot in the 12-14 years' category with 173 points.
On the boys' side, Javier Maroko emerged the winner in the six years and under category with 84 points, while Alambir Singh, Adam Nesbitt, and Jayden Maroko claimed top places in the seven, eight, and nine-year categories respectively.
The event was the 12th in the NCBA Golf Series Calendar, which will head to the Machakos Golf Club this weekend.
Speaking at the Karen Country Club, NCBA Group Chief of Staff, Louisa Wandabwa, said that adding the event to the NCBA Golf Series calendar was a natural fit, citing the opportunity for junior golfers to play on the world stage.
US Kids Golf Foundation Director for Africa, Nicholas Geerts, also expressed his encouragement at the showcase of talent at the two-day event, noting that there is promise in the future of the sport in the country.
A select number of young golfers from Tuesday's event will get a chance to play at the Rome Classic, which is taking place this October, and at the Big 5 tournament in South Africa next year once scores have been officially ratified.
