On July 2, 2019, Uganda's football players boycotted training due to a pay dispute, according to the country's Football Association (FUFA).

The dispute is the latest issue to affect the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, following similar problems in Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Cameroon.

The Uganda Cranes finished second in their group and are preparing to face Senegal in the last 16 on Friday.

According to FUFA, the players are trying to renegotiate the terms of a deal signed between the two parties.

As of July 2, 2019, each player had received up to $14,600, with more daily allowances and winning bonuses awaiting to be earned, as detailed in a statement by FUFA.

A FUFA spokesman told the BBC, 'We hope the players will rescind their decision and report for training on Wednesday.'

The players have yet to comment on the situation.
