On August 25, 2021, Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Kenya, marked a significant milestone in its expansion programme with the opening of a new store at the Southfield Mall in Embakasi.
The latest supermarket will cater to customers from major estates such as Imara Daima, Nyayo Estate, Syokimau, and the larger Embakasi area, providing them with an unparalleled shopping experience.
This new store is the 12th Carrefour outlet in Nairobi and the 16th countrywide, further solidifying the company's commitment to expanding its footprint in Kenya.
The store will initially offer a grocery range and a complete fresh food assortment, including butchery, bakery, fruits and vegetables, cheeses, and ready-to-eat items.
By the end of the year, the store will transform into a full hypermarket model, featuring a non-food assortment, and will occupy a total space of 3,000 square meters on two floors.
According to Franck Moreau, Country Manager of Carrefour Kenya at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, "At Carrefour, we strive to provide customers with an unforgettable experience every time they enter our stores. In our efforts to provide our customers with unbeatable prices and value, our latest expansion will provide even greater convenience to the communities that live in proximity."
Moreau also expressed gratitude to the customers for their unwavering support, stating, "We thank our customers for their unwavering support. Without them, this expansion programme would not be possible," he added.
The new location will offer customers an e-commerce delivery service and a promotional area to display the best offers.
As Carrefour continues to support the local community and contribute to the growth of the local economy, the opening of its latest store will create job opportunities for 125 internal employees and 100 external employees, as well as presenting multiple opportunities for local suppliers, farmers, and manufacturers.
