On July 3, 2019, a fire broke out in Kibra, Nairobi, leaving over 100 people without a home.

According to local authorities, the fire was sparked by a suspected love triangle between three women, with one of them allegedly torching a house in a fit of rage.

The incident occurred after one of the women discovered her lover with another woman on Sunday.

The injured woman was rushed to the hospital by her new partner, while the alleged arsonist, believed to be a foreigner, was pursued by police.

The fire spread quickly through the densely populated slum, destroying over 40 houses.

Gay sex is illegal in Kenya, with those found guilty facing up to 14 years in prison.

However, some African countries, such as South Africa and Botswana, have legalized same-sex relationships.
