On August 25, 2021, a man lost his life in a tragic incident involving police officers and residents of Kahawa West, Nairobi County.

The residents were protesting the demolition of kiosks in the area, which began in the early hours of that morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the demolitions were allegedly conducted by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).

Traders woke up to find their stalls demolished and properties worth millions of shillings destroyed, and several others looted.

As the situation escalated, irate residents and traders staged protests at Kahawa West roundabout, blocking the road and causing a huge traffic snarl-up.

They lit fires along the road, further exacerbating the situation.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage among members of the public online, who have questioned the recent actions by police officers in the country.

It is worth noting that this incident occurred at a time when police brutality has been a major concern in Kenya, with several high-profile cases in recent weeks.
