On August 24, 2021, Huawei unveiled its residential energy storage system, LUNA 2000, in Kenya. The system is designed to improve the utilization of solar power and provide backup power during outages or load shedding.
The LUNA 2000 is a flagship product of Huawei's FusionSolar Residential Smart PV Solution, which aims to increase the self-consumption rate of solar energy. It provides critical support during power outages or load shedding, making it suitable for residential scenarios.
According to Huawei CEO Will Meng, the company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and accelerating carbon neutrality in the countries it operates in. He stated, “We pride ourselves for working towards reducing our carbon footprint and for accelerating carbon neutrality in the countries we operate in,”
Energy Principal Secretary Dr. Eng. Joseph Njoroge, who was the chief guest at the event, welcomed the launch of the product in Kenya. He noted that the energy act 2019 emphasizes the importance of renewable energy, and the LUNA 2000 meets those requirements. Dr. Njoroge said, “In the energy act 2019, renewable energy is one of the critical subjects devoted in the act and this product meets those requirements. I would like to thank Huawei for launching this product in Kenya. Not only will it increase the self-consumption rate of solar energy but also can provide critical support during power outages or load shedding.”
