On July 4, 2019, Safaricom will observe a moment of silence and close all its shops across the country in honor of its former Chief Executive Officer, Bob Collymore, who passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019.

Collymore, who was 61 years old, had been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia since 2017 and had been receiving treatment in both Kenya and the United Kingdom.

As a mark of respect, Safaricom will close its shops from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

A Memorial Service for Collymore will be held at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, and his body was cremated at the Kariokor crematorium in Nairobi, where a small ceremony was attended by a few family members and selected friends, including journalist Jeff Koinange and politician Peter Kenneth.
