Kenya is on the cusp of a major smartphone upgrade, as Oppo prepares to launch its latest series, the Oppo Reno 6 series, in the country. The launch event is scheduled for September 6th, according to the company's social media pages.
The Oppo Reno 6 series will mark a significant milestone for the brand in Kenya, as it will introduce its first 5G smartphone to the market. This is a major development, considering that 5G coverage in the country was non-existent until about a year and a half ago, when Safaricom finally began public trials of its 5G network.
The Oppo Reno 6 5G features a sleek design, a Full HD+ resolution display, and a powerful Dimensity 900 chipset from MediaTek. The device also boasts a 65W fast charger, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for Wi-Fi 6 networks.
With the launch of the Oppo Reno 6 series, Kenya will join a growing list of countries that have access to 5G smartphones. The market is expected to grow in prominence, with several brands, including HMD Global, Xiaomi, and Samsung, already offering 5G smartphones in the country.
