On August 23, 2021, anti-terror police in Mombasa County made a significant breakthrough in their fight against terrorism. Two terror suspects were arrested and two firearms recovered after a tense standoff at the Likoni ferry crossing.

The suspects, both Kenyan citizens, were cornered by a team of anti-terror officers who had been tracking them. The two men were attempting to cross from the South Coast towards Kisiwani in Mombasa when they were apprehended.

During the arrest, police recovered two AK-47 rifles, assorted explosives, mobile phones, chargers, and a machete from the suspects' vehicle. The motive behind the suspects' actions is still under investigation.

While the incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region, it also underscores the importance of effective tracking and monitoring systems. In recent years, there has been a growing competition to install affordable tracking devices, which has been essential for fleet managers who can now track vehicles remotely and receive reports online.
