On a mission to ensure 100% transition from primary to secondary school, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has been touring the Coast region. His visit, which commenced on Monday, aimed at ensuring that no child is left behind in the enrollment process.
Magoha has instructed all education field officers countrywide to liaise with the Interior Ministry to ensure that all Form One students report to their respective schools by Thursday. This move is in preparation for an audit scheduled to take place on August 30, which will establish if all pupils who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations have reported to their secondary schools.
During his tour, Magoha provided scholarships for two students who lacked fees. Moses Wafula Sidhani, who scored 394 out of 500 marks, will now be admitted to Shimo la Tewa High School, the only boys' national school at the Coast. Biyosa Hassan Zole, who scored 355 marks, will now be taken to Mama Ngina Secondary School, the only girls' national school at the Coast.
Magoha emphasized the importance of ensuring that all students are enrolled in secondary school, stating, 'No child should be left behind.' He noted that some areas are still lagging behind, with only 80% transition recorded in certain regions. A total of 1,171,265 students were placed in secondary schools.
