Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Iran of breaching the 2015 nuclear deal to blackmail the international community into relieving economic pressure.

Speaking in Jerusalem on July 2, 2019, Netanyahu stated that Iran had openly violated the deal by increasing its stockpile of enriched uranium beyond the allowed limit.

Iran announced on July 1, 2019, that it had exceeded the limit on its enriched uranium reserves set under the 2015 nuclear deal.

Netanyahu urged Europe to increase pressure on Iran, saying, 'Now is the time for the European powers to follow America's lead and restore sanctions against Iran, just as they promised to do in the United Nations Security Council.'

Netanyahu has long campaigned against the 2015 agreement, and his comments come as the deal has edged towards collapse since the US withdrew from it in 2018.
