Harold's village election campaign is in trouble, and it's not just because of his nemesis Sue's financial might. According to sources, Harold's financial struggles are a major concern, and his reliance on Sue's pub for funds is a significant issue.
As reported, Harold's pub is only open on Sundays, and the little he earns from the faithful is often taken to Sue's den. In fact, a bulk of what Harold earns is taken to Sue's by himself, further depleting his campaign kitty.
However, a clever idea struck a writer who was watching the English football team Arsenal get trounced last Friday. The writer suggested that Harold could take advantage of the football season by charging more for matches on match days. The writer even went as far as to suggest that Harold could let fans watch Arsenal's matches for free, while charging more for other teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
Harold was initially hesitant, but eventually agreed to the plan. The writer came up with a table of charges for every team, and by the time the season ends, Harold should have enough saved for his campaigning.
However, things took a turn for the worse when the writer decided to collect the money from the fans himself. The writer hid the TV from view and declared, 'When it is a big match, we pay more for electricity.' The fans ended up paying Sh33 each, albeit grumbling, and by the 10th minute, the writer had collected the money.
That evening, Harold staggered in late, carrying half a gallon of muratina and a pamphlet emblazoned with Sue's picture. It turned out that all their proceeds were going to Sue's, further depleting Harold's campaign funds.
