On a fateful Saturday, August 21, 2021, at around 10am, a devastating accident occurred at Kaburengu bridge along the Webuye-Eldoret highway.

A Probox vehicle, carrying six people from Eldoret to Malaba, caught fire and burst into flames after being hit by a tipper truck that had lost control.

According to Bungoma East traffic boss Idris Halkaalno, the tipper truck was heading to Malaba from Eldoret, carrying a load of marum, when it collided with a saloon car before hitting a pick-up and landing on the Probox.

Several others who were injured in the accident were rushed to Webuye County hospital for treatment.
