On Wednesday night, houses in Nayeni area were demolished, sparking outrage among residents. Kilifi County Senatorial aspirant George Kithi has condemned the act, calling it a gross violation of human rights.
Speaking to the media, Kithi demanded that all officials responsible for the demolition be held accountable. He warned that if the situation is not resolved immediately, he would take the matter to court and file a case on behalf of the residents.
According to Kithi, the demolition was a clear violation of the law, as it was carried out at night while families were asleep. He argued that if the perpetrators had court documents and legal compliance, they would have carried out the operation during the day.
Kithi also expressed concern over the violation of children's rights, as they were forced to stay out in the cold. He warned that he would not tolerate Kiligi residents continuing to be harassed by police officers.
