Published on August 20, 2021, the Standard Group County Classic golf tournament is set to take place at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, with over 230 golfers expected to compete.
The tournament, sponsored by the Standard Group Limited, will feature a day-long 18-hole stableford event under the theme 'On the course for the green cause.'
Club chairman Taib Bajaber expressed excitement about the event, stating that all preparations have been finalized, and the championship course is ready for the big event.
‘By Wednesday evening, about 176 golfers had registered, but going by the number of requests we are receiving, the entries will definitely increase to over 230. We are really excited and looking forward to the tournament and thank the Standard Group for bringing the event to Nyali once more,’ said Bajaber.
The tournament is open to all golfing members of the home club, Mombasa GC, Leisure, Vipingo, and Malindi Golf Clubs, as well as guests of the sponsor with valid World Handicapping System (WHS) handicap indices.
Winning of prizes will be limited to participants with valid WHS handicaps 28 and below for men and 36 and below for ladies. Winners with higher handicaps will have a special prize category.
Standard Group Limited Chief Executive Officer Orlando Lyomu will be teeing off from the first tee at 1:12pm alongside Taib Bajaber, Kaburu J. S, and veteran golfer Johnson Wamunyua.
