The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued an advisory on expected rainfalls in most parts of the country in the next 24 hours, providing relief to those braving dry and dusty conditions.
According to the advisory issued on Friday, August 20, 2021, counties such as Nakuru, Migori, Homa Bay, Kericho, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, and Bungoma are expected to receive rain over the next 24 hours.
Other counties in the list include Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kakamega, Baringo, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Samburu, Nyarira, Kisii, Narok, Nairobi, and some parts of Turkana County.
Residents in these regions should expect chilly weather and are advised to properly cushion themselves by wearing warm clothes and carrying umbrellas in case the rains are abrupt.
However, some parts of the country will remain largely warm and dry, with counties in Kenya's North Eastern, North Western, South Eastern lowlands, and Coastal counties not expected to receive any rainfalls, according to the Met department.
Delayed rainfalls have a ripple effect on the country's food security, particularly in the Rift Valley region, which is home to the largest commercial and arable land.
