On Sunday evening, Roselyn Atieno Aguyo, a mother of one, found herself locked in her rental house in Masai Estate, Langata, Nairobi county, after her landlord's agent and a police officer allegedly locked the door without checking if anyone was inside.
The incident occurred on August 15, 2021, when Roselyn was packing her belongings and household items, as per a written notice to vacate the premises by the same date.
According to a demand letter dated August 19, 2021, addressed to her landlord, Roselyn's health has deteriorated, and she requires urgent medical attention.
Lawyer James Kihara, representing Roselyn, stated in the letter that the treatment meted out to his client is unacceptable and that no human being should undergo such treatment, regardless of their actions.
