On August 18, 2021, police in Nairobi's Kilimani area intercepted a black land cruiser V8 with no front number plate, driven by Chris Mwangangi and Lucia Wanjiku.
During a search, detectives recovered one Ceska Pistol with its Serial number erased, one Revolver Pistol, and an unidentified frontal Plate Number.
Investigations revealed that the driver, Mwangangi, was not the actual owner of the vehicle, which belonged to Jeff Maina, a close friend.
After being informed of his friend's arrest, Maina drove to the police station in a Mercedes Benz with a number plate displayed only at the back.
A search of Maina's vehicle yielded two Police Handcuffs, one Ceska magazine loaded with 7 rounds of 9mm Ammunitions, one Police Pocket Phone, and several Identification Cards.
Police arrested Mwangangi, Wanjiku, and Maina, and handed over the recovered firearms to ballistics experts for examination.
A police officer from Mombasa was also arrested for allegedly giving the handcuffs to the suspect.
