On August 19, 2021, a police officer was arrested at Kandara Police Station in Murang'a County for allegedly robbing a Tuk Tuk driver of Ksh1,100.
The officer, who has not been named, flagged down a Piaggio Tuk Tuk with registration number KTWA 546X and demanded Ksh2,000 from the driver for unknown reasons.
When the driver refused to comply, the officer allegedly snatched Ksh300 from the driver's hand and forced his way into his pocket to take an additional Ksh800.
According to a report by the DCI, the distraught Tuk Tuk driver raised alarm, and Police Officers from Kabati Police Station, led by the OCS, rushed to the scene of the incident.
The officer was arrested and put in custody pending investigations into the matter.
This incident comes barely a day after four police officers were arrested for robbing a resident at night in a separate incident.
