On August 18, 2021, a shocking incident occurred at Nairobi's Globe Roundabout, a notorious hotspot for crime in the city.
A young man, later identified as a middle-aged individual, brazenly snatched a phone from an undercover policewoman in the full glare of the day.
Witnesses recounted that the man quietly approached the police officer, unaware of her true identity, and made off with her phone before fleeing towards the Central Business District (CBD) on Muranga Road.
According to eyewitnesses, the policewoman gave chase, firing two gunshots into the air to alert the public and apprehend the thief. Fortunately, members of the public intervened, and the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody.
The incident has sparked concerns about the need for increased security measures in the area, with local businessmen calling for a more thorough investigation into the activities of thieves operating in the Globe Roundabout.
