Published on August 18, 2021, Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, a 2022 Presidential candidate, faced a viral video that sparked controversy. The video, which went public, showed him in a compromising situation with a woman in Mombasa.
Kituyi appeared on Citizen TV's 'News Night' show, where he refused to give detailed responses about the event, dismissing it as unrelated to his presidential candidature. He stated that he would not engage in 'dirty tricks' during the campaign and emphasized the importance of dignity and respect for his opponents.
Kituyi also denied an article published by a local media outlet, which quoted him accusing his political enemies of leaking the video. He stated, 'That is a manufactured story, I have not given any such statement to any media outlet or any individual whatsoever.'
Kituyi emphasized the importance of personal integrity in leadership, saying, 'Kenyans should judge me based on my integrity, and how I deal with failed national challenges; do I compromise the security and integrity of my country?'
