On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, residents of Gianchore Village in West Mugirango Constituency, Nyamira County, sneaked into the home of newly sworn-in Deputy Governor James Gesami in search of food.
Deputy Governor Gesami had hosted a party for area governor Amos Nyaribo after his swearing-in, which had faced several hurdles until then.
Despite beefed-up security around the DG's home, tens of residents managed to sneak in through the fence in the afternoon, sparking chaos as they scrambled for food.
It was 'everyone for himself' as the residents pushed apart the thorny fence to gain entry, with only the strongest surviving the food frenzy.
Some residents were seen eating directly from hotpots, while others carried food in their hands or ate from sufurias.
After eating to their satisfaction, the residents left the compound, leaving behind empty plates, hotpots, and sufurias scattered all over the area.
Dr. James Gesami's nomination as the Nyamira Deputy Governor was approved by the County Assembly on August 9, 2021, after a long tussle.
