On August 16th, 2021, the Ministry of Health confirmed 679 new Covid-19 cases from the 5,693 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The national tally now stands at 221,406, with a cumulative number of samples tested at 2,259,150.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, of the new cases, 649 are Kenyans while 30 are foreigners, with 355 being males and 324 females.

The youngest case is a three-year-old baby and the oldest is 107 years old.

Some 1,550 patients have recovered from the disease, with 1,426 from home-based and isolation care while 124 are from various health facilities.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 203,922.

Sadly, 10 more patients have succumbed, bringing the death toll to 4,350.
