On August 15, 2021, Lucy Wanjiru, the mother of two brothers killed in Kitengela, arrived in the country, determined to seek justice for her sons' deaths.
Lucy's sons, Fredrick Muriithi and Victor Mwangi, were among four people killed in the tragic incident. The others were Nicholas Musa and Mike George.
According to Lucy, the last time she spoke to her sons was on a Friday when they told her they were heading to a birthday party. She sent them money, but the following day, she was unable to reach them.
As the days passed, Lucy grew increasingly concerned and eventually reached out to a friend and neighbour to help her search for her children. She also enlisted the help of a pastor, who was a close ally of hers.
Lucy has dismissed reports that her sons were planning to steal cattle in the Kisanju area of Kitengela, Kajiado county. She brought up her children religiously and was shocked by their deaths.
When Lucy arrived in the country, she was too emotional to visit the scene of the crime in Syokimau, where her sons lived. Instead, she went to a relative's home before being taken to the Kenyatta University Morgue to identify the bodies of her sons.
