On July 2, 2019, Urithi Premier Sacco, associated with Urithi Housing Cooperative Society, marked a significant milestone by rebranding to Premier Sacco, a move aimed at expanding its membership and assets.

The decision to rebrand comes after three years of recorded growth, during which the Sacco has seen tremendous improvement in its asset base and share capital.

Chairman Pius Thuku explained that the rebranding will give the Sacco a more unique identity, allowing it to appeal to new consumers seeking financial services.

Thuku emphasized the importance of training staff to enhance their competence in meeting the changing needs of customers.

However, the rebranding has not been without controversy, with Urithi Housing Cooperative Society Ltd Chairman Samuel Maina defending the institution against negative publicity.

Maina maintained that it is not criminal for anyone to face financial hurdles and fail to service loans, urging the media to stop spreading falsehoods.

Despite facing economic challenges, Maina expressed confidence that the Cooperative will surmount its current difficulties.
