On June 30, 2019, during a church service attended by Deputy President William Ruto, Mwanasiasa Francis Mureithi of Embakasi said that Jubilee Party leaders were angry with God for not allowing them to win the 2017 elections.
According to Mureithi, when Jubilee Party was formed, its leaders went to Nakuru to pray for God's guidance, and after the Hague case was resolved, they returned to Nakuru to thank God for their victory.
However, during the 2017 general elections, Jubilee Party leaders were not grateful to God, and this led to their current turmoil.
"When Jubilee Party was formed, its members went to Nakuru and prayed for God's guidance. After the Hague case was resolved, they returned to Nakuru to thank God for their victory. The party's campaigns were also launched in that area," Mureithi said.
He added, "The President himself was prayed for by the spiritual leaders and promised to return and thank God. The Deputy President was also present."
Mureithi further stated that the situation would have been worse for Deputy President Ruto and President Uhuru if God had not shown them mercy.
"Honorable Deputy President, everything we see in the party is a sign that God is not pleased. You have not returned to thank God. You know God cannot be deceived, go and meet the President and return to thank God," Mureithi said.
He also told Ruto that God had sent a false prophet to confuse him.
"He has sent a prophet to come and confuse you. Now it is time for you to go with the President and meet the false prophet when you are giving thanks," Mureithi said.
