On July 27, 2021, an autopsy was conducted on the body of Caroline Kangogo, a police officer who had been the main suspect in the murder of a colleague in Nakuru and a businessman in Juja.
Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor confirmed that Kangogo died of a gunshot wound, with the bullet causing a hole in her head and areas of burning on her muscles.
"There was a hole in her head caused by the bullet and areas of burning called muscle print," Oduor said during a live address.
However, the pathologist noted that the manner in which Kangogo died was yet to be established, and would only be revealed once the lab results were out.
As part of the investigation, the pathologist took swabs from Kangogo's hands to determine whether she had pulled the trigger, and to determine whether her death was a result of suicide or murder.
Family members who attended the autopsy at MTRH funeral home expressed satisfaction with the findings, and had also engaged a private pathologist to conduct their own examination.
