On July 25, 2021, a distressing discovery was made in a village on the border of Kiambu and Nyandarua counties. The body of Beatrice Magiri Chege, a middle-aged woman, was found dumped inside an underground well in her own compound in Lari constituency, Kiambu County.

According to Lari police boss Stephen Kirui, the murder is suspected to have been committed on Sunday night by armed robbers. However, the lack of physical injuries on the body has left detectives puzzled, and they are now waiting for the postmortem results to determine the cause of death.

Residents of Lari have expressed concern over the murder, which has spread fear across the area. They have urged detectives to hasten investigations and make public their findings. The body of the deceased was retrieved from the well and taken to the Uplands Mortuary in Lari for postmortem.
