On July 27, 2021, Kenya's national women's volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, showed remarkable resilience at the Tokyo Olympics, coming close to securing their first-ever win at the Games, but ultimately falling short against Korea Republic.

For the second consecutive match, Malkia Strikers pushed their opponents to the limit, mirroring their performance against hosts Japan in their opening match. However, they were unable to convert their efforts into a victory, losing the match in straight sets.

The African volleyball queens faced a tough start, losing the opening set 25-14. Nevertheless, they demonstrated improved performances in the second and third sets, losing 25-22 and 26-24 respectively.

Sharon Chepchumba was once again a standout player for Kenya, collecting 14 points, while Leonida Kasaya contributed 11 points to the team's efforts.
