July 27, 2021 - The Kenya Rugby Union's (KRU) decision to accept the resignation of Kenya Simbas head coach Paul Odera has left the rugby community in a state of confusion.

According to a statement released by the KRU on Tuesday, Odera had resigned from his role as head coach of the Kenya Men's National Fifteens Team, The Simbas. However, in a surprising twist, Odera himself denied any involvement in the decision, stating that he had not resigned and was still preparing the team for the 2023 Rugby World Cup qualifiers.

'I have not resigned and as far as I am concerned I am continuing my preparations with the team for the 2023 Rugby World Cup qualifiers,' Odera said in an interview with Capital Sports.

The KRU's decision to accept Odera's resignation has been met with skepticism, with the coach's denial of any involvement in the decision sparking a heated debate within the rugby community.

Kenya Rugby Union boss Oduor Gangla stood by the Union's statement, saying 'We have released a statement and the reality is exactly what is said there. We have nothing else to comment on the issue.'
