Kenya's last standing boxer at the Tokyo Olympics, Elizabeth Akinyi, suffered a disappointing technical knockout (TKO) loss to Mozambique's Alcinda Helena Panguana in their welterweight bout at the Kokugikan Arena.

The bout, which took place on Tuesday, saw Panguana unleash a barrage of blows on Akinyi in the second round, forcing the referee to stop the contest with 1:34 minutes remaining.

This loss marked a disappointing day for Team Kenya at the Tokyo Games, following earlier eliminations in other sports.

Kenya's Sevens men's team had already been eliminated from the medal contest after losing 12-5 to Ireland, while Faith Ogallo was also ousted from the taekwondo 67kg category round of 16 after losing 13-0 to Mandic Milica of Serbia.

Additionally, four-time world light heavyweight champion Julio La Cruz of Cuba made light work of Kenya's Elly Ajowi in their Tokyo Olympics heavyweight (81kg-91kg) bout, registering a 5-0 win.
