President Kenyatta's visit to the UK, scheduled for July 28th and 29th, marks a significant milestone in strengthening the Kenya-UK strategic partnership. The visit, which was announced on July 27, 2021, aims to foster closer ties between the two nations.

According to Kenya's High Commissioner to the UK, Manoah Esipisu, the highlight of the Kenyan leader's visit will be his co-chairing of the Global Education Summit with Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The summit seeks to raise funds for investment in the education of millions of vulnerable children around the globe.

"The target for this fundraiser is USD 5 billion. Most of the money has already been raised along the last few months," Ambassador Esipisu said, quoting President Kenyatta's efforts to secure funding from fellow Heads of State.

During the visit, President Kenyatta will hold bilateral talks with PM Johnson to review other areas of the Kenya-UK strategic partnership, which covers trade and investment, security cooperation, and climate change.

"It does include security and defence. Regional security specifically because we, as Kenya, live in a fairly tricky region. And we collaborate with our partners around the world, including the UK, to deal with these security imperatives," Ambassador Esipisu noted.
