Published on July 26, 2021, the Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a high alert for strong southerly winds projected to hit the eastern half of the country.
The agency warned that winds of 25 knots (12.5m/s) may cause structural damage, blow off roofs, and uproot trees.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to be cautious and monitor local media for timely updates regarding the situation.
According to the forecast, cool cloudy conditions were expected in the morning, breaking into sunny intervals in several counties, including Nyeri, Muranga, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, Kiambu, Tharaka Nithi, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Nairobi, Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado.
However, in the coastal counties of Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River, sunny intervals were expected to prevail throughout the day on Tuesday.
